The arts fuel a vibrant economy and attract talent from across the nation.

The 2024 Economic Impact of Arts & Culture report, commissioned by ArtsWave and produced by the Center for Research & Data at the Cincinnati Regional Chamber, reveals the powerful economic engine that arts and culture represent in our region. This comprehensive study examines the financial contributions of over 70 arts organizations across the Cincinnati region, demonstrating that the arts sector is not merely a cultural asset but a significant economic driver generating $1.6 billion in total economic impact from 2019-2022. This affirms what ArtsWave has championed for nearly a century—that investing in arts and culture creates stronger communities and economies.

The findings showcase remarkable resilience and growth, with the arts sector’s 2022 economic impact reaching $488.4 million—a substantial 44.3% increase from 2021 and 18.9% growth from pre-pandemic levels. This vibrant ecosystem supported 6,518 jobs and generated $15.7 million in tax revenue. When including the BLINK® festival’s additional $249.3 million impact, the arts contributed a staggering $737.7 million to our regional economy in 2022 alone.

Looking ahead, the report projects continued growth, with the annual economic impact of arts and culture expected to reach $586.7 million by 2027, totaling $2.8 billion over the next five years.
