CSO Sampler concert

Macy’s long-standing commitment to our community is evidenced in how it partners with ArtsWave. Macy’s employees contributed more than $100,000 to last year’s ArtsWave Community Campaign. In addition to this support from employee giving and corporate gifts, each year Macy’s steps up to provide the entire region with a very special gift--ArtsWave’s Signature Event, Macy’s Arts Sampler.

Macy’s Arts Sampler is an arts festival with more than 90 events at 30 venues across the region,
completely free of charge. This year, Macy’s Arts Sampler takes place on one weekend only, March 7 & 8.

March 7 features “Arts All Around,” with arts events and opportunities throughout the Greater Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area. Local musicians and bands will perform at three Campbell County Public Libraries, and there will be a variety of arts and performance offerings at community art centers in Fairfield, Hamilton, Oxford, Kennedy Heights, Wyoming, and more. Support from Macy’s gives residents and visitors in all of these neighborhoods free and easy access to a wide variety of new and diverse arts experiences.

Saturday culminates with the 3rd annual Greater Cincinnati Choral Consortium Sampler Concert, featuring over a dozen local choirs. Singers from the different choirs have commented on how much fun it is to see each other’s performances, and audiences get to enjoy a wide variety of music in a single afternoon.

On March 8, come out to play at Music Hall in Over-the-Rhine all day long. Activities include self-guided tours, performances, face-painting, and hands-on arts activities for all ages. Programming will be offered throughout the entire building, from the Ballroom to Corbett Tower to Springer Auditorium, including dozens of arts groups such as Visionaries + Voices, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, My Nose Turns Red Youth Circus, and more.

This open-house festival concludes with a special joint concert, "Fairytale Favorites,” featuring the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Opera, and the May Festival Chorus, and including selections from
Hansel & Gretel, The Nutcracker, and even the witches from Macbeth. This joint concert (sponsored by Dewey's Pizza), is free and open to the public. It’s a one-of-a-kind line-up that can only be experienced during Macy’s Arts Sampler.

ArtsWave is grateful to Macy’s for its support and sponsorship of Macy’s Arts Sampler each year. It’s a great way for families to spend time together and for everyone in our region to discover our amazing arts scene.
