AWDays-Block-Party

Tomorrow is the final installment of ArtsWave Days, brought to you by Macy's. This event series has brought thousands of people out to a wide variety of venues all over Greater Cincinnati to engage with the arts. Recently, the Contemporary Arts Center hosted tea parties in conjunction with the Cincinnati Ballet's performances of "Beauty and the Beast." Last weekend, participants braved the rain to take free guided tours of the murals and other public art in Hamilton, Covington, OTR and downtown.

Now, to mark the conclusion of the series, the Taft Museum of Art will play host to an ArtsWave Block Party, with support from Frisch's Big Boy. A large, festive event tent over the Taft garden will be jumping with a community block party in full swing. Guests will enjoy music, art making, games, food and themed-beverages for purchase. Live music will be performed by Bacchanal Steel Drum Band and Shanay Productions featuring MzMusic.

On the front lawn, visitors will be able to see artist Patrick Dougherty’s "Entwined at the Taft," a large-scale stick work sculpture, as it evolves. The sculpture is being assembled from six tons of willow tree saplings with the help of dozens of community volunteers.

Inside, the Museum’s historic house and art collection will be open to visitors for free, as well as the special exhibition, "Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection." This premier exhibition has been lauded by USA Today as one of the “best museum exhibits in the U.S. this winter.”

The Block Party is free as part of the 2018 ArtsWave Community Campaign. The full schedule can be found at ArtsWave.org/Days. Don't forget to sign up for ArtsWave Rewards!
