Programs at the Taft Museum of Art, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, CCM, the Street Stage Project and Elementz all work toward bridging cultural divides by increasing diversity and opportunity in our region's arts sector.

Last weekend, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra kicked off their 125th Season with CSO Look Around, a one-of-a-kind event that showcased how our region's arts sector collaborates to benefit the community.

"Through the Lens," a book of photography by Matt Zory, chronicles the historic renovation of Music Hall behind the scenes. Zory is also assistant principle bassist for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Break Bread + Listen programs are a reminder that even when we might feel disconnected and cut-off from our fellow man, common ground is there – if you take the time to find it.

At ArtsWave, we believe Greater Cincinnati's long-standing and vibrant arts community helps differentiate our region. How can we get more people talking about these successes and unique organizations that make Cincinnati amazing? How do we create, polish and amplify a positive reputation through the arts?

Myles Yeazell and Matthew Adams are the first Cincinnati area musicians selected to perform in the Detroit Sphinx Competition since 2002. Both young men perform with the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and are performing in a benefit recital January 19.

All around us are powerful examples of the role the arts play in bridging cultural divides and building understanding and empathy. Two powerful arts events this week, as we celebrate Veterans Day, illustrate the diversity of the American experience. Art, music, poetry, and drama are all in the service of sending us powerful reminders of what’s important and what’s at stake.
